OpenBack uses only the data needed to operate saved accounts, multiplayer, ranked play, clans, and player-selected public profiles. OpenBack is not the OpenFront hosted service and is not operated by OpenFront Inc.

Data OpenBack stores

When you create an account, OpenBack stores your verified email address, account and session identifiers, public player ID, in-game name, public description, banner color, selected flag and cosmetic, ranked rating and results, wallet and owned cosmetics, clan membership, an optional profile picture, and whether the first-death tutorial has been shown. Verification codes are temporary and expire. The browser also stores local game and display preferences needed to run the game.

How the data is used

Private email and session information is used for authentication and is not included in public player profiles. The name, description, banner, flag, cosmetic, profile picture, rank, public player ID, and clan information you choose are public identity fields and may be shown to other players in rankings, clans, friends, live matches, and game history. OpenBack does not include the upstream advertising or analytics boot scripts.

Your account choices

Logging out removes the session from that browser while preserving the saved account. Deleting an account removes its account profile, login, rating, wallet, cosmetic, profile-picture bytes, tutorial state, and clan data from OpenBack's account storage. Deletion is permanent and the removed account cannot be restored by logging in.

Requirements for a published copy

Anyone publishing a build based on this source is responsible for their own accurate privacy notice and must comply with every license that covers the code and assets they use. A distributed or network-accessible copy must include all of the following, as applicable:

• the GNU AGPL v3 license, applicable copyright notices, warranty disclaimer, and visible legal notices;
• a prominent notice that the copy was modified, including relevant modification dates;
• the complete corresponding source for the exact version offered to users, available at no charge through the network interface as required by AGPL v3;
• the visible attribution OpenBack modifications by frootz jhklphy and the preserved © OpenFront and Contributors notice;
• all applicable asset credits and license notices, including the Creative Commons BY-SA terms for covered assets; and
• an accurate privacy policy describing the operator, data collected, storage, sharing, retention, and user deletion process for that copy.

A publisher must not present a modified copy as an official or unmodified OpenBack release, and must not include assets or services for which they do not have permission. Full license details are in Source and Terms and the source tree's license and notice files.
